⚛️Physicists create tunable superconductivity in twisted graphene 'nanosandwich': Scientists have been trying to figure out ways to use Graphine for a while. After its discovery, it was named a miracle material bound to revolutionize everything we hold dear. Batteries, health, you name it! Since then, however, there’d been few discoveries until recently. A while ago a few scientists discovered that when you place two graphene sheets at a particular angle, you were able to create a superconductor. This ushered in a whole new field called “twistronics”. Bad name, sure. But the discovery held various prospects. They wanted to know if other materials were capable of doing achieving “strongly coupled superconductivity” as well. Recently, they discovered that there was indeed another way to achieve superconductivity this time in the form of tri-layer graphene. They discovered that they were able to “tune” the level of superconductivity to an extent in which it reached “ultra coupled superconductivity”. The benefits of having near-frictionless transmission of electricity would be tremendous. (1018 words)
🚀'Got to work on that landing': SpaceX rocket in fiery crash, again: Starship recently experienced another crash. The prototype of the rocketship seems to need a bit more fine-tuning until we can all get aboard. (436 words)
🛒Amazon Without Jeff Bezos: In the meanwhile, it would seem as if the space race is about to heat up. Amazon CEO(soon to be former Amazon CEO) Jeff Bezos, wrote in a company memo that he had planned on retiring as the CEO of the company. He will be taking a role as the figurehead thereof, but will not be handling day to day operations. So what will “king Bezos” be doing in the meantime? Well, remember when I said the space race was about to heat up? Many forget the fact that Bezos has his own Space ambitions as well; that Blue Origin albeit silent its operations is largely a competitor to Musk’s SpaceX. He seems insistent on his desire to pursue space as well as his other philanthropic ventures. There’s a lot to be said about Bezos as a person, and the leader of a company that many feel emblematic of modern-day hypercapitalism. I too am sometimes enraged. But if there’s one thing I feel certain of, it’s the fact that the world we live in, is a far better place with Amazon in it, and with Bezos having brought it into being. (934 words)
🛩️Drone Swarms Are Getting Too Fast For Humans To Fight, U.S. General Warns: The future of warfare is upon us, and it’s looking scary already. In a recent seminar, the head of the American Army Futures Command told a web seminar indicated that there needed to be a shift in the usage of autonomous weapons, or else they would find themselves increasingly vulnerable to opposition. The army has relied on humans to observe and control the first move of any weapon. But the necessity for sharper than normal reactions on the battlefield seems to be increasingly coming to a point in which armies can’t afford to have a human supervise and initiate many decisions.
