Groundbreaking implant wirelessly relays brain signals in high fidelity: Brain-computer-interfaces are having a moment in that they seem to be one of the ways we are pursuing alternate human experiences. Up until recently, one needed to be tethered to cables and computers to decode the brain signals captured by these devices. This changed when a group of scientists at BrainGate, found a way for wireless transmission of said brain signals that allow transmission speeds on par with that of wired transmissions. This introduces a new element of mobility into the technology and inadvertently makes Elon Musks’ vision of human-AI symbiosis a bit more likely. (777 words)
Cultivated Meat Projected To Be Cheaper Than Conventional Beef by 2030: An integral part of solving and averting the incoming climate crisis is changing how we eat. More importantly, how we produce what we eat. Cultivating meat is a solution that has been gaining ground both in the technological and political sense of things. A Dutch consultancy known as CE Delft projects that cultivated meats will soon be cheaper than their natural alternatives. Cost of production tends to affect adoption. This means it is essential that the cost of production goes low if we are to make the drastic changes we need in our diets. It is as such good to know that we are on the right track. (358 words)
Finding From Particle Research Could Break Known Laws of Physics: The bombshell story of the past 7 days had been the news that we may be on the path to another Paradigm Shift with regard to Physics. Researchers had observed the Muons act in a way that existing models of Physics do not account for. This hints at the possibility of a force or forces unknown to us; Forces that would very much upend our view of reality. There are two articles I recommend with regard to this story. The first is the one broken by the New York Times which manages to present the human aspect of the realization of said story. The QuantaMagazine article is one that manages to explain the findings in a truly engaging way, that is if one seeks a more technical description of the findings.
