🤖GitHub and OpenAI launch a new AI tool that generates its own code: This is quite the development. I was grateful for the opportunity to play around with GPT-3 last year and walked away really impressed. I’d generated code to draw network graphs and to write pieces in the voice of someone else. Many were distraught when Open-AI agreed to place GPT-3 under Microsoft’s watch fearing that its singular licensing to the tech behemoth would imply an era that marked the beginning of the end of AI that was open to scrutiny and publically accessible. Today it would seem that there were some benefits to this move. Github, a Microsoft subsidiary released a code generation program called Copilot which it sees as a productivity tool. Code generation and autocompletion tools aren’t a new phenomenon as seen with tools such as Tabnine, but Copilot promises to go above and beyond preexisting tools not merely in the accuracy of code but also in the amount of code it can generate. Like most spectacles of brilliant automation, the software engineering world seems to be already wallowing in the potential for tech like this to bring an illustrious end to their careers.
Only time will tell the extent to which this development will disrupt programming and software engineering as a whole, but it is a welcome development. (550 words)

A trial of the test which makes use of a pattern matching algorithm to detect leakages in cell-free DNA has shown promising efficacy and is bound to see rollout soon mostly to be tested on those with a likelihood of getting the disease. Early cancer detection tends to enhance the life expectancy of those that may catch the disease and is bound to revolutionize the field of oncology. (703 words)
🧬Landmark CRISPR trial shows promise against deadly disease: And as if the field of Bioengineering couldn’t have shown itself more influential a breakthrough trial shows a CRISPR treatment effective at reducing the production of a protein that causes transthyretin amyloidosis. This disease results in the chronic deterioration of various organs resulting in pain and then the eventual death of the patient. But the significance of the trial is even greater as it shows that CRISPR does not require that a cell be taken out of a patient’s body only to be replaced. CRISPR treatments can take place within the patient’s body. This has enormous implications for a wider range of diseases such as sickle-cell anemia which tend to rely on arduous bone marrow transplants to treat the disease. (955 words)
